Success is when data becomes knowledge. Part 4: What tools to use for analysis?

Key criteria for selecting a data analysis tool include its ability to access and correlate metadata, its capacity to process large volumes of data, the algorithms available, and the user’s familiarity with the chosen tool. After all, even the most powerful tool is of no use if the user does not know how to utilise its functionality.

At müller+krahmer, we generally rely on NI DIAdem and the TDM Server in NI SystemLink, which is based on DIAdem, due to its specialised design and our many years of practical experience. And we pass on this experience in our DIAdem training courses. However, we are also no strangers to Excel, Python, LabVIEW or VBS applications for data analysis. Ultimately, what matters is whether – and with how much effort – the crucial success of generating knowledge from data can be achieved.
