Cyclic EtherCAT SDO communication or: The customer is always right!

Process data objects (PDOs) are typically used in EtherCAT (and other fieldbuses) to transport (cyclical) real-time data, while service data objects (SDOs) are used for (acyclical) parameterization.

But what if the PDOs are not available for cyclical control due to customer requirements, but the reaction of the test object to cyclical setpoints is to be tested on the test bench?

Then SDOs must be written and read cyclically – realized by müller+krahmer with Hilscher cifX in LabVIEW as well as in DIAdem. This function is available as an add-on for our LabVIEW libraries for Hischer cifX.

And parameterization of the DUT via Ethernet over EtherCAT (EoE) is integrated too …
