We train users in NI DIAdem – so they can work more effectively than using Excel
We regularly run DIAdem training courses, including both customised courses for specific users and standard courses on behalf of NI, such as the course entitled ‘Exploring Data Interactively Using DIAdem’.
Of course, the course is primarily designed to provide participants with the necessary practical knowledge. However, we too are constantly gaining new insights or confirming long-standing experience.
It is always astonishing, for instance, how much manpower is wasted through the use of unsuitable tools – take, for example, the analysis of large data sets using Excel. Excel is an excellent tool for the interactive analysis of, for example, business and statistical data. However, when analysing large volumes of data, such as those typically found in technical data (e.g. from endurance tests), Excel’s single-value-based approach reaches its limits. This results in long waiting times.
The effectiveness of software is determined not only by its functionality, but also by the successful interaction between the software and the user. This requires the relevant knowledge, but also the user’s acceptance of the tool. This acceptance must be fostered by involving users in decisions regarding the use of specific software products, but also by highlighting the advantages of newly introduced software.
So, if you find that your data analysis lacks effectiveness, push for the change and seek support from experienced users who can show you the way, impart their know-how and foster acceptance.
