They say, “A picture is worth a thousand words”. In some cases, that’s true. Very often, however, there is much more to a situation than a picture would suggest.

This image also appears on the cover of our joint application story with Hilscher and shows one of our pneumatic valve test benches in action. Although there isn’t much of this “action” to be seen. Yet it is precisely this that defines these test benches: cyclic communication via switchable real-time Ethernet buses (EtherCAT, Profinet, SERCOS III), Profibus and IO-Link, as well as analogue and PWM signals; acyclic communication via RS-232, TCP/IP and HTTP; firmware updates via TFTP, HTTP, the web services of SIBAS PN (Siemens railway automation system Profinet), Device Firmware Upgrade (DFU) via USB, Ethernet over EtherCAT (EoE) and so on and so forth …
