Easily capture CAN data with PEAK-System PCAN-USB, NI DIAdem and the PCAN-USB driver by müller+krahmer

It is widely said that measurement tasks are becoming increasingly complicated because the complexity of the systems under test is growing, whilst at the same time the demands regarding the information to be obtained are also rising. All of this is reflected in more channels, higher sampling rates and more complex functionality in measurement hardware and software.

Nevertheless, there are still those relatively simple measurement tasks that need to be solved with a manageable amount of effort, or measurements that need to be carried out very quickly using existing equipment.

When it comes to acquiring CAN data, we at müller+krahmer have a wide range of experience in combining NI LabVIEW and NI DIAdem with hardware from renowned manufacturers such as Beckhoff, Kvaser, NI and Vector. However, when it comes to acquiring CAN data on a PC with minimal effort, the PCAN USB modules from PEAK-System have long been our first choice.

For users who wish to combine the ease of use of these modules with software that is equally straightforward to use, we have developed a driver for NI DIAdem. The software, which most users are likely to be familiar with primarily as a powerful analysis tool, also offers very simple and flexible measurement, control and visualisation functionality in the form of the DAC and VISUAL modules. In combination with the PCAN-USB modules and the driver by müller+krahmer, CAN data can thus be acquired and output. The software supports the configuration of any baud rate as well as the simultaneous use of multiple modules. The CAN messages to be acquired or output can be configured manually or imported from DBC files.
