AI has the knowledge, NI DIAdem has the tools – the DIAdem-AI interface by müller+krahmer brings them together

Having AI analyse a few data points from an Excel document via chat or through an agent has become part of daily practice for many users. And thanks to AI, they suddenly have access to mathematical capabilities that far exceed their knowledge of Excel.

But what if the task involves analysing not just the usually manageable volumes of data contained in an Excel file, but gigabyte-sized measurement files, for which NI DIAdem is ideally suited? What if this data must under no circumstances leave the company’s IT environment?

Our DIAdem AI extension solves both problems. The AI does not have to handle huge files. It plans the steps, but the analysis always takes place within DIAdem using the tried-and-tested mathematical functions optimised for analysing large volumes of data. The bulk data never leaves DIAdem. The AI only sees channel names, units and parameter values, which it requests via a tool.

So even if DIAdem works with the API platform of one of the many AI providers – because this can be set up quickly and provides access to powerful models – only a few parameters leave the local data environment. However, if absolutely no data is permitted to be passed on to third parties, our DIAdem AI agent naturally also works with Ollama on a dedicated GPU server.

Another benefit for the user is that the AI is used within the familiar working environment and with the usual workflow: call up the AI analysis from the relevant function group in DIAdem ANALYSIS, select the channels to be analysed, formulate the task and start the analysis. The result is displayed in the channel preview and – once confirmed by the user – saved in channel data.
